Shimano reel

Featured Replies

I recently found my dad's old Shimano reel. It is a B100A model and he says it's at least 20 years old but that's all he knows. I'm wondering if it is a good reel? What pound test line it maxes out at? And any general information about it would be great! Thanks!

I wanna see pic to :-)

Seems to be a lower/mid tier graphite framed model from the early 90's. Certainly worth more for sentimental value than function vs. newer gear that is available. A tear down, clean & lube will help. Spool it up with some 12lb. mono and let us know.

Sweet! I have some of my dads bantams from the early 80s. I will use his favorite one for grins from time to time. We have both moved on to newer 100 and 200b reels. That’s a cool reel, looks to share the same handle and star drag as the curado of that era. Enjoy!
