Small Jon boat Lowe 3210 question

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

New to this website.  But have enjoyed reading posts by other people.  Have had a few different boats in my life.  But have always wanted a small boat to carry in my pickup truck.  I want the convenience of having a boat on hand.  If I happen to see a ditch or a slew that I want to access, I just want to be able to do it without a boat ramp.

Have recently found a small jon boat at a local dealership.  It is a Lowe 3210.  It is 10 feet long and 32 inches wide.  Has anyone ever been in a boat that small?  What are your thoughts and experiences if you have.  They are asking $599.00 for it and I'm getting spring fever.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Lonnie

There are a few on here that use small boats. My first one was a 12 footer that was probably that narrow. Those were more popular before the new modern kayaks came along.  If you intend to fish 2 people of course the jon is the best option. If you want to just fish alone the modern kayaks have good storage, easy to maneuver by yourself and can have electronics, rod holders, they are amazing. They also come up available used a lot on places like craigslist.  You might want to read through the tons of kayak topics posted here, many have good info and pics as well.  There is a wealth of knowledgeable YAkers here.

Some models have "duck feet" underneath to paddle with others have trolling motors, some you paddle.  It may be worth looking into. Good Luck

I didn't know that Kayaks had come so far.  Will have to check them out.

Thank you,

Check out the bass raider also, same price, but from what I read they are much more stable. They will also hold more weight, 600 pounds vs. 400+ with a 10' jon boat. They are 48" wide so they will fit in the back of a pickup.

My first boat was a Sears 3210 jon boat. It was OK with just me at <150 lbs. as long as I did not stand up much. Fell out of it a couple of times. Max weight capacity was 250#
