Looking for a new Travel-Rod

Featured Replies

I am looking for something that I can take on backpacking and hiking trips. So something in 3/4 pieces is ideal, I like a 6'6" spinning rod.

Just looking for some opinions if any of you have any experience with any brand or model of pack rod.

Thanks!

Daiwa Ardito. only available in 7' and 7'6", but a good rod.

You other option would be Fenwick Methods. You get 5 pieces (1 handle, 2 back section, 2 tip section) and can configure the pieces to whatever power/action as you see fit, basically giving you 4 different rods in 1.

If you're willing to venture across the pond, options are unlimited.

Exactly, GraphiteLeader Bosco & Veloce, absolutely great rods, there's a bunch of MajorCraft rods that fit the bill, Tailwalks, so many unknown on this side brands.

For sure! The Poison Adrena, Zodias, Expride, and Daiwa Cronos all have 2 piece options. Daiwa Aussie market has several 3 piece Generation Black spinning models that look soooooo good.

ONE THREE an DIAWA are at TW.

I have a Fenwick Methods which is fantastic! It is a 3 piece rod, but it comes with several options.

It comes with Medium and Medium Heavy Power

It also comes with Fast and Moderate Fast Action

It also comes in a nice travel tube.

So you get the tube, the bottom part of the rod, and 4 pieces that are interchangeable. It isn't the lightest rod in the world but it isn't the heaviest. It is very sensitive though. I was extremely impressed with it and it has become my main spinning outfit for freshwater.

I know this sounds weird, but has anyone managed to find a reel that matches well with the Fenwick Methods and could do double duty in salt/freshwater? That rod is such a weird color.

I have some 3 piece Browning Safari rods which are pretty good for the price.

I am using a Okuma Helios on my Methods. But any reel with blue accents, or green accents should match up. Don't think you'll ever get a perfect matching color. But that's not really necessary. I think the Helios and the Methods look good together.

They have a Helios for saltwater also which I think is blue instead of the lime green.

Many thanks! I'll check those out.
