Shimano Curado 100D (MGL?)

Featured Replies

So I have the opportunity to buy a few NIB Shimano Curado 100D and Citica 100D reels that are old stock from a store not too far from me that have been in the back room for some time. I noticed today on the Curado 100D that it says it features a Magnumlite spool...isn't that the same as the MGL concept? I forgot how absolutely solid these reels feel and truly are all metal yet still under 7.5oz.

What is the going rate for a NIB Curado 100D and a NIB Citica 100D so I know what I could offer? Thanks and please let me know. Best wishes on the water!

Magnumlite is an old Shimano trademark that applied to different things at different times. The 100D spools are not the same as the new MGL ones. That said, these are great reels. I have two in that platform.  Even though the new stuff is lighter and more compact I love these reels.  Sort of like taking out a classic car for a spin.  The Curado would bring at least $150.00 and the Citica probably 75-80.  They are very user friendly and make a strong case for the old VBS braking system.

If the guy just wanna get rid of it, I would say around 120. @150 price point you might as well get curado 70.

I know 100d is a good reel built like a tank, very reliable but as you mention 7.5oz is quite heavy. I had one myself but sold it not long ago.

7.5 ounces is pretty standard for a light weight reel I don't think that's heavy.

I just compare 100d to other small size reel like 50e around 6.8oz or curado 70 around 6.5 oz or alphas sv105 at 6.1 oz. That 100d is about the same weight as calcutta 50. Is it heavy compare to other reels? Maybe not, my other day to day use reel is weight at 11 oz.(daiwa luna 253)

I got you .
