Kayak Fishing accelerating at rocket speed

Featured Replies

I do not want to run afoul of the rule where we should not promote a particular tournament but they have announced a kayak bass fishing tournament where the winner will walk away with $ 100,000.00!

I have been bass fishing from a kayak since 1991. I find that it is a great way to get out and truly enjoy nature. I also enjoy fishing my local tournament series. We typically walk away with two, three hundred bucks if we win. 100 grand for a tournament is hard to get my mind around. Crazy stuff!

Man, I'd LOVE to kayak fish a tournament with those high stakes.

I'm wondering.. would they use cooler live wells? Seen loads of setups for that. Or does everyone have to have the same digital scale and take pics then message them into the place by, say, 3pm? Like, I know how it goes (generally) with the local yak fishing tourny's but 100k tourny?! Howwww would they track it and how many anglers? It's mind boggling to think of, and supremely exciting at the same time! :D

Most if not all kayak tourneys are length only.  Weight doesn't matter

Ahh wonderful! I thought I had seen that. Kind of odd though, as there can be quite a difference in weight from a fat 23" fish to a skinny 23" fish.

But hey, length works! :) Just figured for 100k they would step it up, you know?

Yes, flyfisher is correct. These tournaments are won with length. Most are your best 3 or 5 bass photographed on a "Hawg Trough" with a unique identifier. Uploaded from your smart phone for judging and a polygraph for the money winners.

Oooo poly test? Interesting! I like it :)

that's crazy!  i hope, really hope for the good of the sport, that there isn't a single whiff of cheating in this one!

The sport is really in the toddler stage right now and still fairly pure. I'm with you though, I hope it stays that way.
