  1. Mines so heavy, it doesn't move .... *shrug* It's at the back, on the carpeted plywood floor. Literally nearly impossible to slide.
  2. Excellent thread! I bought some Keitechs recently (3.8 and 4.8) and bought 4/0 and 5/0 weightless swimbait hooks for them. Love the action on them, but yet to catch a fish. It's early still up here in New Hampshire, but I have a feeling any day now I'm going to see the awesome that these baits hold within them! Also, I found this thread using Bing search for "ways to use a Keitech"
  3. It's getting closer to the day.. anyone else from New Hampshire have any thoughts on my original post? Thanks in advance
  4. Yes, it's absolutely terrible! Things were looking better here in New Hampshire, but now this cold snap followed by over a foot of snow this week?!? How much can a guy handle?? lol On a bright note, I'm getting a GoPro Karma with GoPro 5 tomorrow for the official launch of my YouTube Channel. So, I guess it'll give me something to research and prepare for. There's some ice out on rivers, but most of the lakes and ponds are locked right up. Some of the southern stuff was better, but I'm sure that's all changing now.
  5. Up here in New Hampshire, I have a preference and a bit of a saying to go with it. "Once you go Wacky, you never go backy"
  6. Wouldn't bother me much if I went against a peddle vs my paddle. Pff, as it is I'm thinking of a way to rig up a live well with my 10' Pelican Bass Raider to compete against the fellows in my fishing club that have 50 - 60k bass boats. I just think it would be fun. (For now, I co-angle on these amazing boats of theirs) So yeah, it doesn't bother me as long as it's yak vs yak. Now, if you put a trolling motor on ....then there's the issue of gas mechanical vs man power.
  7. Thank you very much Chowderhead. I can't wait to get it on the water!
  8. The Lowrance Hook 5 came and it's now installed. I installed the transducer to the trolling motor with the proper bracket, and I made a small spot to hold my battery for the sonar. There's a slow moving river that's open up here, that I may head out in tomorrow. Supposed to hit 50 degrees, so maybe I will even get a fish to bite. Mostly going to test out the raider now that I've added all the mods. Get used to the Lowrance and things of that nature.
  9. This is very interesting. I hate trebles and have considered JUST this. I also consider pinching the barbs, but my brain tells me it helps hook up ratio....yet I do not truly believe that. I'm such a mess! lol
  10. Awesome! That's great, and I definitely don't want to "nay say" anything. Heck, I'm purely a noob... unfortunately I tend to be a very confident noob, which sometimes doesn't go well That's a great thing to know, and I certainly would've bought a more proper item had I known ahead of time, so thanks again for putting it in the thread! I would have to agree to use whatever is best near water lines and heck, anywhere really, but in my issue I think I'm going to be in very good shape. Near the waterline, I'd want to do the most proper thing possible as well! Cheers man.
  11. Now this fully explains it. Those holes are so close to the water line (low on the vessel., etc) and the drain plug probably nearly always had water on it. Also, it's old and you tried to silicon all that stuff in place without taking it apart and reinstalling? Yeah, it's going to leak. I'm 110% less worried now, thank you Advantage. I truly don't think I have a single thing to worry about, but I'm a mans man and if I get a leak I will come right back in here and tell you I'm sorry I didn't listen ahead of time and that you were right. This will not be the case though, hah Thanks again for looking out! Sorry about your experience
  12. Thank you very much for caring! It's really appreciated Advantage! With that said, these few small holes, with the amount of silicone (waterproof silicon) I used on the screws and the area...I'm not worried about these TINY holes well above the waterline!! I will never get water in the hull unless I flip this thing, and even then it would take pushing it down to even have that happen more than likely. I'm not worried about it too much. Unless the screws fall out, I shouldn't have any real problems. Rain and splashing won't get water in the hull with what I have done here. I'd love to hear your personal experience a bit more in depth though! I don't want sound stubborn or anything, I just feel sure of myself here.
  13. We will find out for sure! I know I yanked on them pretty good and it would certainly take a lot of force.
  14. Well I went out to take the video and my GoPro battery..... Yep, the battery was dead so no video today. Also, the sun was coming through the garage doors in such a way that it made composition for the pictures terrible. Never the less, here's some shots I took today Please excuse the boat being dirty. I figured mod it, then let it warm up and wash it before I take it out for a year worth of slime. Did loads of upgrades. The Lowrance Hook 5 will be here tomorrow, but I already installed the RAM mount for it and bought a dedicated battery for it. I installed 2 anchor cleats, one on each side near the back. I installed Pad Eye anchors for tiny bungee's to strap down the poles on each side of the Raider (took a picture of the screws I used. I do not use the screws that come with the pad eyes). Added a donated old Die Hard trolling motor that works! It's on the back mostly acting as a rudder for the front mounted motor, that I installed a "Big Foot" switch on. Also added a nice marine grade carpet to the plywood flooring. I will LOVE this, especially during the summer! Added front and back lights for it, and registered the boat so I'm legal to go in any waters I dare take it! lol. Majorly upgraded the seats!! Those 10-15+ hour days will feel loads better now. Here's some shots. Excuse the dirty boat please.
  15. My Lowrance Hook 5 will be here Monday, and my Raider is now just about entirely rigged! I did a lot over the last week on it, and will get pics as soon as I can and explain each mod and where I put it. I'm very very happy with the end result. You know what, I'll even post a video on YouTube probably. Do a little VLOG thing.
  16. Ahhhh ok, I didn't bother go to the Walmart site, as it had no info in store and nobody could tell me anything. I just assumed it was every bit as vague on their website. Well, shows what happens when one assumes something Thanks again! This seems to be a "motorcycle battery"? So just making sure there's no issue with what I picked. I guess I'll purchase some alligator clips to install on the bare wires of the fish finder when I get it, and see how well it works.
  17. Oh really? Where'd you find the info? Also, thanks for that.
  18. The problem I'm having most is that I can not find the statistics for A/H of the battery. I've looked online as well, but don't see it. I just want to be sure I bought the proper type of battery. Not sure what the amp draw of my FF is, I just kind of wanted a battery that I know could pull off a 8-12 hour day easily. Maybe even longer if needed. Thanks for your reply Scotty
  19. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Would love to bring it back and get something else if I'm supposed to, but I feel like it should work.
  20. As the title states, today I went to Walmart and grabbed a battery to dedicate to my Lowrance Hook 5 fishfinder, and I was curious if this was an ok battery to get. I thought I knew what I was doing but I'd rather ask a few people in here that know way more than me if this is ok. After reading more into it, I'm just unsure. Any thoughts? This will be rigged on my 10' Pelican Bass Raider (Yes I've seen and partake in the extensive Bass Raider thread ) While you're here thinking about it..I bought the trolling motor transducer mount for it as well. Anyone have experience with that?
  21. Wacky rigged Senko... easy choice for me. Gary Yamamoto
  22. Panther Martin with black body / yellow dots / golden spinner. Just about one of the only in-line spinners that I use. But also, I only use in-line spinners for trout. Rainbows tend to like the brighter colors, so I use the "holographic" versions of the Panther Martin for them.
  23. Curious, when does bass season generally "start" when the ice goes out? Immediately pretty much? Another way to ask this is.. when are most people in southern / central NH starting to venture out and work on catching some? In my mind, not having done a spring spawn fish yet, I'm thinking mid to late March. I mean, you can catch them through the ice, wouldn't it be just as good as soon as it melts and starts to warm up? Thanks for any thoughts on this.
  24. I got an awesome deal on a Lew's Speedstick and Speedspool at Dick's Sporting Goods...it's still my favorite setup currently But I believe "generally" those combos are of lesser quality items. Take this nifty looking Quantum combo I keep looking at in BPS. The reel seems to be super sub par...but why do I keep looking at it when I go? That value looks pretty nice for a "decent brand" baitcaster...but upon closer inspection, that reel is only 3 bearing and feels kinda bad. I haven't seen another Lew's combo since grabbing mine, but I see these Quantum combos lined up by the dozens.
  25. Hey Jeff, thanks so much for the welcome Thank you! Definitely immediately "home" around here.. this place is GREAT! Oh I know that it's for trout.. I'm just super excited for the first day (4th Saturday in April) because I haven't done it since my father took me as a child. Now, I'll be going to Lucas Pond this year, and launching my kayak...ohhhh sometime around 4am probably! LOL Pleasant Lake eh? Neat! That's only 40 minutes from me... any good, um.. Bass in there?! haha I have a modded Bass Raider and fishing yak...I'll be all over NH this year, so most likely will visit that area and see how the water floats Thanks for the welcome. I've projected a day of March 15th (or around there) to HOPEFULLY be working on getting on some water. I'm so so so ready! Hello! And thank you!
