Tatula CT Type R? or Tatula CT?

Featured Replies

im looking into getting a daiwa tatula and i dont know which one to get, i dont know if i should put the money in towards the type r or just for the regular ct, still trying to decide on the ratio for all around use.. but i need to clear up this question first. i can get type r for around $150 plus tax at local tackle shop or the regular for around $100 to $110 range

For general purposes the CT will be fine. Great reels for the money. 6.3:1 is pretty much most versatile ratio if your including moving baits. 7:1 or higher for Jigs, frogs and anything else you want to pick up lots of line fast.

Type R If you plan on throwing lighter stuff.

Short and sweet response hope it helps.

Thankyou, it's just hard because everyone has their own opinions, but yet again this is a forum.. I've heard equal say on the gear ratio and on the type r and reg CT,

I'd say it is a pretty good deal if the rod and reel are in decent shape.  The reel listed for $130 in 2005 and TackleTour gave it a Best Value Award.  I own the $100 older Trion and the $250 older blue Patriarch XT.  Both good values.  Personally I think Pflueger casting reels are under-rated.  I've never used a Veritas, but many on here like the rod.  I don't know what the rod sold for new, but I am guessing new value for the combo would have been around $200.  So...yeah...if in decent shape, I would get the combo if the rod is of the power and action you would use.  No rod or reel is worth the price no matter how good a deal they are if you don't like them enough to use them.  I don't think that would be the case here.  What model is the rod?

you mean the action and power? its a 7ft med heavy fast action and the reel is a 6.4.1 ratio from what he says. ima try to get better pictures of the combo. The actual model is the veritas 2.0 if thats what you were asking. the reel looks newer than the one tackle tour reviewed,

I was looking for the 7' MHF answer.  That power and action is a very versatile rod.  6.4:1 is a versatile gear ratio.  So a $210 value when new.  Personally I think the reel is worth that price unless it has a lot of boat rash.  I'd get it and worry about buying the Tatula later.  You know you will buy one eventually.  :lol1:
