2017 ascend kayaks?

Featured Replies

So u got the bps 2017 bass book and saw they redid the ascend kayaks and saw the new 12ft fs12 I think has anyone used or seen it yet in person looks kinda nice says you can stand and has the cushioning on the deck but still not sure if it's worth the money or just spend more to get a ws or native

I picked up the FS10 myself as my starter kayak. If I could re-do it I'd consider a sit-on top 12ft. The fs12t looks like a great platform specially for the price. Here's mine:

That's not a bad set up though and that's what I was looking at the 12t I guess they re did a bunch of things for the new year o mean plus side I love 15 minutes away from my bps but the price point is a major plus just concerned about the stability of the kayak

I have last years FS12T. The kayak is as stable as you are, everyone has different balance abilities. But to give you an idea the only time I sit is when i'm paddling, sometimes i paddle standing up. When I fish I am always standing, I cant sit down to fish it drives me nuts. I also duck hunt out of it, firing a 12 guage with 3 & 1/2" shells at moving targets while i am also moving.

Long story short, Yes it's a stable kayak.

Edit: I've considered selling to buy the new model, the improvements they've made with the foam ontop and relocating the center dry storage are great. I would even buy the larger model the 128T but they don't make it in the camo pattern.

The 12t is going to be stable without a doubt. My FS10 is as stable as a 10ft sit-in kayak will ever get but I can't even think about standing. Sit on top kayaks with at least 11ft lengths is what you're looking for and the 12T may be it. May want to research Vibe, Perception, and Field & Stream (Dicks Sporting Goods) as alternative brands as well. Vibe kayaks look top notch and come as a package with paddle. Check out KayakBassFishing magazine they have a great gear guide!

I really like the new Ascend! Nice design, and a wide open deck. I have heard from quite a few folks who say it is just as stable as any other modern kayak that guys are standing on. I wouldn't exactly call this an entry level boat. If you're willing to shop at that price point, you should take a peak at a few others, like the Vibe, Perception, etc. There are plenty of other good kayaks out there in that price range.

I've got last years FS12T, and it is very stable. I stand in in all the time, and I'm convinced I would fall out of it before I could flip the thing. I tried to flip it while sitting one day and actually couldn't.

If you can afford it, and you've had seat time in them all, I'd say move up.  You get what you pay for, in features and durability.

If they are truly out of your budget, then a Ascend are worthy, and will get you off the bank.

My. Local field and stream. Had a ride 115 on clearance sun 1k but I'm gonna head to my. Local paddle store and check out the native they seem nice but I do like how the new bps 128t has the power add on but at the same time I sit here and wonder how much I'll actually use them
