Night Bass Fishing

I agree with scaleface on this one. You barely have any hook showing. You either need a thinner grub or a bigger hook. I think a bigger hook would be a better choice. I'm sure you can find something similar with a bigger hook somewhere.

I laughed at myself this morning when I was analyzing all that went wrong from last night. I tied it in the dark and obviously wasn't paying attention. Should've adapted earlier when I didn't land that 2.5 - 3 bounder (estimate). Road Runner makes a 1/4 oz with 1/0 hook that should improve things. I think I was using a 1/8 with #1 size or 1/16 oz with #4 hook last night.

I'd drop the leader too and just use the braid. If you hook into your PB you'll be glad you did. Try a spook style bait.

Rapala has an x-rap subsurface that is more than nice. Very easy to walk and good price point.

So, a white ice Zoom Super Fluke Jr is one of my favorites (day and night). That's already a part of my rotation. 2017 YTD PB came off one mated with a white chatterbait - at night. White has been the color for me at night bc of that contrast point that some mentioned earlier today.

If the bass are on a spinner bait bite during the day why would I change lures or areas because the sun went down?

I fish the same structure with same lures at night as I would during the day.

Under water vision for the bass is reduced at night, so use lures that are a little larger. Slow retrieves work better because it lets the bass locate the lure easier and zero in on it.

Bass Do Not Morph Into A New Creature After Dark!

A good old black Booyah Pad Crasher,black/blue swim jig/trailer,black/blue worm.Pretty much anything black/blue.Did i mention black/blue yet??

I've always done well in the twilight span that occurs just after sunset until darkness completely falls, on topwaters.  Spook style baits or topwaters that churn a lot of water, click-clack, or just make a lot of commotion seem to anger the bass into striking.  Can't say I have much experience during the night, as the mosquitoes will eat you alive up here, thermacell and mosquito spray or not.  I have heard that pure black musky jitterbugs will get some big strikes, especially around full moons.  Digging back a few years I think Rhode Island's Largemouth Record was caught this way.  Good luck and keep at it.  I think you'll get it down.
