what is it worth, 94 stratos 284

Featured Replies

I know they have the nada guides, but i was wondering what you all think this boat is worth.  It is a 1994 Stratos 284, with a 150 evinrude intruder outboard, electric tilt trim, 3 blade stainless prop raker 24 pitch, the boat has a 24v 56lb motorguide, garmin 240 fish finder, the trailer is single axle, w/ detachable tongue and bearing buddies. This boat is immaculate no scratches whatsoever and always garaged not faded or anything, it runs perfect and has three new batteries, what do you think it is worth money wise, i am looking to buy this boat, and dont want to get ripped off, i dont trust the nada guides.

$9500 is probably a solid price pictures would help us give u a much better idea

P.S. i cold be way of but from looking around at boats in that range myself id say i cant be to far off

As a benchmark, there's a '92 278 on the flea market board with a 150 Evinrude on it going for an asking price of $5800 and it's in excellant shape.  I'd start by offering $8,000 and go from there but I certainly wouldn't pay his asking price, seems a little on the high side for a boat that's 25hp underpowered and a TM will be just enough to pull that boat around.  Try doing a Google search on used boats and see what the market is asking for a boat of that age and size.

Just depends on how bad you want this particular boat, sounds like a nice one.   I think the 9,500 is a  little too much and the 5,800 would be a good deal if the boat checks out good.  With the end of season getting near and your not scared of loosing the boat, you might be able to negotiate a very good deal, just depends on how eager the owner is to get rid of it.

Just be sure to have that motor checked out good, the early Eagles were subject to have problems, one of the main problems is the block cracks where the rec/reg is an lets water into the cylinder.  If not caught in time, this will blow that cylinder.  Go here, Click on Teck Talk and read the tech bullenten on 60 degree blocks  http://www.mar-fab.com/

On that hull, I think the 150 will push it along nicely, hole shot should be ok and top speed in the lower 60's

I'd say with the info. you provided that you should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 5000.00-6000.00.  Sounds like it's been kept up very well, just make sure you have cyl. comp. checked by a marine mech, and look to make sure that the transom has no cracks where the motor mounts to it.  Solid floor, etc.  We're starting an ebay auction this weekend for a 1999 Dyna-Trak, tournament ready with some minor flaws and we're starting it at $6500.00 with a Mercury 150 EFI.  I did look at a 1998 Stratos with a 150 about 2 months ago locally and they wanted 6800.00 for it.  It sat, and sat, and sat.  It wasn't gorgeous, but it was tournament ready.  These prices should help your decision I hope.  Never hurts to shop around for quite a while.  Make sure you feel great about your boat deal because you're usually going to find something wrong with a used boat.
