Next rod reel

Featured Replies

I currently have 6 middle of the road combos. Looking to add a few more soon. What do you think?

I have

7' X flipping frog rod

7'3" mh jig rod

7'3" Texas rig rod

7'1" mh spinnerbait rod

7'1" m crankbait rod

7' m spinning rod

I want

*** Envy 6'10" MLXF (150)
Shimano Stradic FK 2500 (150)
15 lb Suffix 832/8 lb Seaguar Invisx

ALX ZOLO 7' MF (200)
Shimano Curado 70 7.2:1 (160)
20 lb Suffix 832

Dobyns Sierra 7'6" HF (180)
*** *** 8.1:1 (150)
50 lb Suffix 832/25 lb Seaguar Invisx

Cousin's IM-8 7' Mag MH (181)
Shimano Curado 200 6.3:1 (150)
30 lb Suffix 832

I think you are wasting your money if you want even more setups. From the few threads you opened lately, seems like you need to go out and fish instead of buying even more tackle.

All the water around me is frozen, but not enough to ice fish, which I don't do anyway

How about a 6'6" Medium-Fast for throwing top waters?

Thats what i was thinking the ALX would be for, or my 7' M MOD

Edit: Comment deleted, this guy is annoying.

I think the MLXF rod might be a good addition to your arsenal.  I have never owned a *** Envy so I couldn't comment on that one.  Two out of three of the others look to be close to your present rods.  The Dobyns Sierra would have my vote but I am biased using several from their Fury Line.  My baitcasters total 7 from 6' 6" to 7' 6" with Dobyns, Gator, BPS Extreme and W&M Skeet Reese.  I have a mixture of reels from 5.4:1 to 7.1:1 from several of what I consider lower line manufacturers and have been upgrading with several Daiwas lately.  Never owned an *** *** 8.1 either.  Only two spinning rods, a custom tie and an FR703SF Dobyns.

Lines here range from 50lb test braid to 6lb P-Line Flouroclear.  Line are from P-Line, Seaguar, Trilene, Vicious and Spiderwire Stealth.

I am an antique and have been bass fishing for many, many years.  Don't let anyone keep you from buying what you consider good tackle.  I used to be a dedicated bass club and tournament fisherman in younger days.  Now belong to an old guys bass club and enjoying life.  Good luck to you.

I like something in the 66 range medium fast or xfast for my top waters and jerk baits. Also, will you be doing a lot of Heavy flipping or punching? if so a longer flipping would be quite useful.

You have a nice collection so far, it seems well thought out
