Bait selection on rod and reel

Featured Replies

Hi, I need to know what bait I should use with a 6:4:1 reel on a med heavy 6,6 rod.

Thanks

Texas rigged worms, jigs, stickbaits, spinnerbaits, small frogs, flukes, chatterbaits, swim jigs, small finesse swimbaits, etc etc etc.

Essentially any lure heavy enough to load the rod and cast. I prefer a mh rod for lures that have a single hook on them where a decent hookset is valuable.

is that a fast action rod? its shorter than most rods, sounds good for roll casts to targets with single hook baits and pitching jigs/plastics. might be great for skipping as well.

There's really nothing that combo can't do except punching through thick vegetation. However, if that rod has enough backbone it can be done with a little patience.

Don't worry about it, tie on what you want and have at it.
