raised deck

Featured Replies

Been reading about some of you putting decks on your boat and was thinking of doing the same with mine. The front of my boat already has a raised deck, but the back does not. It would give me so much more room and storage back there. My question though is would it be stable enough. My boat is 65" across the top and 48" on the bottom. It is about 22" deep, 16' long. Want to put a pedistal seat up on it to. Going to build it all out of aluminum to save on the weight. Any ideas from anyone if this would be stable enough? Thanks, Doug

plenty stable!! people make john boats that are only like 55" wide have full decks and are just fine, just be consious of weight and try to make it as light as possible but dont sacrifice good quility stuff either.

I am keeping mine at the top of the seat level, gives me about a 2 in. lip to keep things from rolling overboard, and will be more stable with a slightly lower deck, and since I am 6'4" and about 330 lbs. stability is more important than an extra couple of inches of storage.
