NRX 822 SYR

So I can get a super deal on the NRX, this would be my first.  (40% off) the blue one is being phased out.. I'm wondering about what can I use it for?  I also want to know if it will be a disappointment if I get it as my first.  My plan was the MBR 842 but I'd have to pay full price, same for the 893c.  The guy at the shop says he never stocks those. The 853 and 854 are his best sellers.  I have the glx version and didn't want to get a redundant rod yet.  ?

I also can nab the IMX 803c and other IMX at 20-30% off and all the mossybacks are getting clearanced too.  Same discount. Worth getting any of those?

I had one for a couple of years. Was a good all-around stick. Sensitivity was very good but not amazing like the 893c or the 852s that I have now. Dont think it is worth MSRP but for 40% off it would be a great deal.

Yes it will be disappointing because all of your rods aren't NRX. You know they say, once you go NRX...

So you can buy the rod for just a bit over $300 if I am understanding you correctly? I friend of mine has the very same rod and uses it for drop shots and shakeyheads as well as flickshakes. He really likes the rod and he also a few other NRX rods like the 893. He says the feel is really good but I have never asked him to compare it to other NRX rods because he says he can feel everything he needs to while finesse fishing.

I would say roll the dice on the rod. I am sure if for some reason you weren't absolutely in love with it you could sell it for what you paid for it locally maybe a bit more or less.

I have that rod along with a couple others from the series and really enjoy finesse fishing with it. It's a great shakyhead rod, but it also does well with microjigs, small tubes, and horizontal drop shot. Can't beat that deal and I can't imagine you'll ever be regretting your decision.

Thanks for the input guys, but looks like I lost out by not nabbing them on Friday.  They are now all gone.  Both sold over the weekend!  Dang it.

What’s the action on this ride like? Is it just stout  with a softer tip to shake the Shakey head?. It sounds like it’s just like a drop shot rod basically.

I have the NRX 822 dsr and NRX + 822 syr and they are not the same. The 822 syr is a more of a jig-shakey head with a faster action. Both are great rods but not nearly the same
