Used this reel for about a year and stopped using it due to noise from the reel. Pulled it back out a couple days ago to break it down and clean it. 

 

 

After thorough cleaning, it works but something's still wrong. When I tighten the spool tension past a certain point (doesn't seem like that much to me), it will make a clicking noise. Its coming from the spool tension gear and it sounds like its not making solid contact with the main gear. Like its stripping sort of, but the gear doesn't show signs of stripping.

 

Anyone encountered something like this? Suggestions?

It may be ascent simple as something not seated fully. First step is to loosen the cast cap, and take off the palm side cover and spool. Replace them and see if that does it.
