Wow Walmart sells boats. Is that a regional thing?

I've seen numbers of Wal-Marts that sell jon boats.  The one in Thomson GA has so many different sizes strung across the front they look like a marina.  May be based on how near a lake is to them and what their market is.

Any in the columbus area.

New might be unrealistic.

I bought a 14' ex wide flat bottom with 2 pedestal seats, casting deck, 9,9 hp gas motor with a trailer for $800. The guy though in a troling motor that I fixed in 5 minutes.

My buddy bought the same thing but newer looking, motor looks like off the show room floor plus a tilt trailer in a semi v and he only paid $600

Need to decide first can you tow or does is need to fit into the back of a truck? Where are you going to be using it? how many people need to fit in it? what type of lakes and how big? how much storage space do you have ( make sure you include trailer tounge length) etc.

New boat owner myself so been there done that recently.

If a jon boat is your thing I would seriously look at used boats.  I have had a few of them, and you can find some great deals on used jon boats.  Theyre alluminium and usually dont show wear very much.  You can get a lot more boat, especially in that price range if it is gently used.  There are enough of them around that it shouldnt be much trouble finding one.

Depending on your needs and where you fish, like was mentioned before the seaeagle or canoes and kayaks are also great little fishing boats that should fit your needs.  I am looking at getting a kayak as well.

What types of water will you be fishing the most, how much gear do you have, how many people will go with you, and storage are big concerns that should be considered and it is hard for me to make a recommendation without knowing.... like illini said above me.

I fish in buckeye lake and other lakes in the newark area. I also use mostly spinning outfits with spinnerbaits.

Get a used boat on craigslist.  I would get a stripped down 15 or 16 foot boat and then trick it out any way you want.  You can get an old fiberglass trihull for that amount.  They are good boats and have lots of potential to turn it into a fishing machine.  Just make sure that the motor is in good shape.
