Tackle Shop Bay Area?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a tackle shop in the Bay Area that sells freshwater lures, line etc? I can't seem to find a quality one anywhere because they are all about saltwater.

Not knowing where exactly you're located bma3, I'll try to help. Since Jon retired and closed Walton's Pond in San Leandro, Outdoor Pro Shop in Oakland and Mel Cottons in San Jose also closed it is tough without a little driving.

There's HI's Tackle in the city, Outdoor Pro Shop in Rohnert Park, Boatmasters in Livermore, Hook,Line and Sinker and Dan's Delta Outdoors in Oakley, Outdoor Sportsman in Stockton, Fisherman's Warehouse in Manteca and San Jose, Coyote Bait and Tackle in South San Jose, and of course Basspro Shop in Manteca.

I'll finish up the brick and mortar chain stores with Dick's, Big 5, and Wally World. For an order over $50, you can get free shipping and possibly next day delivery from Tackle Warehouse and Outdoor Pro Shop.

I hope this helps, and let the road trip begin,  JB

Where in NorCal are you?  Coyote Bait and Tackle is my favorite shop, they have the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff around and their customer service sets them apart from any other place I've been.  It's a smaller shop but they carry more specialized items that a lot of other places won't carry (Megabass, 6th Sense, Roman Made, Hudd, local brands, swimbaits in general they have a nice selection).  I've heard a lot about Hi's Tackle Box further up north near San Francisco, and if you're way up north Outdoor Pro Shop in Rohnert Park has one of the best online selections of tackle so I'm assuming the physical shop is loaded as well.

The BPS in San Jose is terrible most of their bass stuff is in-house branded or the usual stuff you find in big box stores.  BPS in Manteca has a slightly better selection but nothing unique.
