Ugly stik gx2 youth spinning combo

Featured Replies

Think in bout picking this up for the boy and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it.  This will be his first rod he's 8.  I've been letting him use my old Fenwick I have laying around but he wants one he can call his own so I figured old surprise him with it next time we are in the boat.  The Fenwick is a 6'6" medium and it's in my opinion to long for him so this one bein 5'6" I like that I checked the rod out it seems like it will do alot the reel not so much lol.  I'm just kinda kick in it around at this point was wondering if anyone out there knew of maybe a better option keep in mind he's 8 so nothing too expensive.

For an 8 year old, it's probably just right.

At 5'6", it isn't too intimidating and hard

to manage for a smaller kiddo.

If you think it worthy, I'd go for it.

kids are tough on things, and ugly stick is perfect for them.

i dont know anything about the reel, but i know ugly sticks can hold up.

We bought a GX2 combo for my daughter last year... For the money, it's a nice little setup.  The reel is functional though clearly not stellar, and the rod is surprisingly sensitive for the price point. For most 'kid fishing' applications, it will be fine.
