Split Rings

Swapping out the trebles on my blade baits with single hooks. I've selected the VMC In Line Hooks to do this job. I also just picked up a pack of #5 Spro Power Split Rings. They are much more "sturdy" and "springy" than the ones that are currently on my blade baits. I think this will be a good move. However, I have two sets of split ring pliers and neither can open the gap enough to get the hooks on! What make/model pliers do you folks use? Thank you!

Texas Tackle split ring pliers - I use the regular orange handled ones for everything freshwater, but they also make a large (green handle) and an x-large (blue handle).

Thanks T9......I'll check them out.

If possible try to use oval split rings as the round split rings have a bad habit of catching your line on the converstion point of the split ring which can lead to damaged line ... The oval split rings avoid that issue (try TW ) .

Texas Tackle gets my vote as well, I have the orange and green ones and they are great.

Texas tackle also make a smaller set of split ring pliers for tight spaces, I believe they are called "executive" very good for smaller rings, and they have a device that opens the pliers.

I balked at the price of the Texas Tackle pliers, but broke down and bought a pair.

They are so far and away better then the other ones I had that I would pay ten times the price if I lost mine and had to replace them.
