what to use to clean lcd screen

Featured Replies

Spray scents totally screwed the screen up on Lowrance graph screen. What's the best stuff to clean it with safely?  Thanks...Papadew

Hope somebody has the goods on this one, I need to know as well.  My guess is that mild soap and rinse is recommended.

Use warm (not hot) water with a mild soap, a couple of drops of dish washing liquid. Make a lather of bubbles on top of the water and pick up the bubbles with a warm wet cloth or paper towell. Wipe the soap off of the screen with another wet towel and let the screen air dry. Don't use chemicals, windex, fantastik or 409. Don't ever wipe a dry screen, it will scratch.

I use what ever I have handy, paper towels, rags, hands etc. you name it, I've probably used it.  Don't don't use chemicals as someone has already mentioned.  Even using windex, spray it on a soft cloth, not directly on the screen.  If your's does not have the non glare screen, you can go to your local auto paint store and get you some 3M plastic polish and it will make it look brand new.  If you do this to a non glare, I won't be non glare when you finish.

Now, here's my secret formula. I go to Best Buy or some of the larger Office supply house that sell computers.  I buy me a package of Fellows WriteRight universal screen protectors.  These are the clear scratch guards made for touch screen PDA's etc.  I cover the screen with those, that way I can wipe them with what ever I dang well please and when it gets too fuzzy, I pull those off and put new ones on.  Screen stays like brand new.  The package of Fellows will cost about $15 but have enough for several uses.

Way2slow, what I neat idea!  Just like a NASCAR peel-off windshield!

Krystal Vision by The Professor Wilson Frazier www.itainttv.com . It is the same product he used on the LCD screens for the Lowrance graphs on the boats at the Classic. and If your looking for a great one step boat cleaner, Shazzam is the best I've found. Spray, wipe (dry or wet) and your done cleaning and waxing.

My computer monitor is a neovo with a coated lcd screen.

The salesman recommended a product called "Kensington screen guardian"  It cleans my computer screen very well, no streaking and no abrasive chemicals.

My monitor is three years old with images still bright and crisp.

PS.  It also cleans eyeglasses.

Like Alpster said, use dishwashing liquid. If your screen is scratched buy some of that eyeglass scratch repair. It works. Also, I put rainex windshield protector on my screen a few times a year.

If you want to get fancy most television sales shops sell cleaners specifically designed for these types of screens. I have a product called Monster Screen Cleaner that I got when I purchased a big screen for my house. I use it on my tv, pc screen , graph screen in my boat, my eyeglasses, etc. I've even used it on my rear view mirror inside my truck. I think it was only a few bucks and comes with a special lint free cloth that keeps from scratching your stuff.

The protective stick ons sound like a great idea once you get a clear screen.

Posed this question to the Lowrance site.  Figure to get the best information back from them.  Took a little time, but their answer came back today.

"We have found that plain Windex actually works quite nicely. Make sure

there is no AMMONIA because it will damage the screen. "

Hope this helps.  It's what I'm going to use.
