Hey guys, I'm going to be returning my Mojo Bass 7' MH-MF to BPS here soon and I was looking for your guys advice on a new rod, Im looking for a worm and jig rod. I've been considering the 7'1 MH-F mojo bass and also the 7'2 MH-F Abu Garcia Ike rods. They are both at the $130 price point and I'm wondering more about the Abu rod, what do you guys think? 

The new Mojo's with the SCIII blanks are extremely nice rods for the price. I would stick with them over an Abu rod at the same price point. I've handled the Ike rods and got the same 'Meh' feeling I've gotten from every Abu rod. 

I would be picking up the St. Croix Mojo -----  

 

 

That 7'1" MHF Mojo is what i use for my jig rod.Its fantastic.However i prefer my Mojo 6'8" MXF spinning for worming.

I have fished multiple Abu rods....Ill take the St. Croix all day.

I fish 1 Abu Garcia Ike Delay series jerkbait rod. It acts exactly the way Ike says it will in his videos. Unlike many of the members here I believe, the Mojos are overrated as are many of the St Croix rods are . Over the winter I sold off several St Croix's. I prefer Dobyns, Powells and Irods and of course I really like the feel and the way my Ike rod fishes.

For a jig rod I really like my Powell Max 683CEF.. That is one versatile stick.

I would take a St Croix over Pure Fishing any time.

I own both of those rods and I think you will be happy with either of them.

the newer mojo bass is a good rod for the money. I use it along with my other high end st Croix and it doesn't feel as if it lacks anything minus a little power. I think that the handles on them are my favorite out of all the Croix rods. 5 year warranty.

The Ike is slightly more sensitive, slightly more powerful than the Croix.

It has stainless guides but I do not prefer the EVA handles (that's your call). 3 year warranty

the only bad thing I've found about Abu rods is I have noticed some with slightly crooked guides. I don't know if the means anything on the water but ive noticed it. 

check out the 7'4 medium heavy as well. 

 

 

If you get a ike rod check it for defects before you walk out with it..The ones a saw at the local bps were as crooked as a dog's hind leg...I have never see that in a SC.

For 109 you can get a dobyns fury imho it's a better option..better warranty better customer service and 20 cheaper

Yeah I know, I have the 734 and 703 in the fury series. Unfortunately I lost my receipt so the $130 will only be for in store credit and BPS doesn't carry Dobyns Rods. Any other suggestions at the 100-150 price point?

I really like my Ike Series spinning rods for sure. They are light and sensitive.

Ya unfortunately there selection is kinda horrible well I've personally fished the mojo series scii I was happy with there performance until they started breaking but when I bought all mine there weren't allot of options in the 120 range and they were top notch at that price point.  Now allot of companies have joined that market.  I have a shimano exage 7'2" mh fast that I started fishing about a month ago they are very co.parable to the fury line u might check them out.  Quite a few options in the exage line as well there at that $99 price point not sure if bps carries them though either

Another option is to buy the rod somewhere else and buy other things that I need with that money from the rod.

Of those two, I'd pick the Mojo. You'll end up with a better quality rod with a longer warranty. 

My immediate reaction would be to go with the St. Croix, but the smart thing would be to take your reel with you and try it out on all the rods you are interested in to see what feels best for you.
