Featured Replies

Hi dear,

i'm new and i'm french, sorry for my english.

I wanted to know how much oz can i throw with a daiwa tatula ct ? If any of you owns this réel can you tell me more ?

i will like throw lures of about 2 oz

Thx

That's going to be more dependent on your rod than your reel. It shouldn't be an issue casting that weight, you just need a heavy power rod to handle it.

My rod is sakura sportism 14g-70g, but  in France, people say that with a reel size 100, i can t throw different lurres with différent weight, like with a spinning rod.

you can throw as heavy as you want, as long as you have enough line on the reel. For example, if you throw 4oz lures, and you have 60lb line, you may not have enough line on your reel to fight the fish.

so i don't understand why the seller tells me that i can throw 2 oz max with this real.

So i can use this real for bigbait ?!

There is no "maximum weight of bait" rating on any low profile baitcaster.

I think most anglers either go to a larger capacity low profile reel like a Daiwa Tatula Type HD or a reel like the Lexa 300 or 400 reels, or they go over to one of the round reels like an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur or even a Shimano Calcutta reel.

Most often when an angler, in the US, is throwing a bass lure that weighs 2 ounces or more they most often are throwing a big hard bodied swimbait and they use much the same gear that a muskie angler would use. Either that or they are throwing a big Alabama rig, but again many use the bigger round bodied reels for line capacity mostly.
