Plugging a Leak

Featured Replies

So I have this leak in my engine: Its 'peeing' water out of the side and I used silicone to plug the hole but its not holding. Im thinking of welding it but Im not sure yet. Its weird cause when I did have it plugged with silicone the lower unit was smoking real bad. I think I may have got some extra down in the hole and it was just burning it off....i hope so.

Any suggestions to how I should plug it?

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

for those who dont know im joking....lighten up.

Have you thought about JB Weld??  That stuff is awesome on metal.  I fixed a gas tank on a car once.. with it still leaking gas.... held for the 8 yrs. I had the car anyway.

Exactly what do you mean by I've got a leak in my engine.  Where is the leak at, can you provide a picture?

Funny stuff Hale.  Folks, read the fine print in his post.

Water, peeing out of the side of the engine, lol.

Are you the guy that uses the drawer on his d: drive as a coffee holder? lol :P

While I'm here, I have an issue with an old shimano reel, every time I get a nice fish, it makes a gear ripping sound, just terrible, and I'm sure the reel is failing because when it's a BIG one, the line still comes off the spool.  Any suggestions other than "buy a pflueger?"

oh man.....lol

Lucky for you there is a real simple fix for your motor leak. Just turn off the key, it works every time. :P

That was Shimano's first attempt at a he-man drag system instead of the pansy-wansy drag system they have now.  I think they called it the gear tooth chatter system.  When the guts of old Shimano's  flexed due to any decent fish putting up a fight, the gear shafts flexed allowing the gear teeth to disengage.  Not a popular system.

Try this as a cure.

You could put the reel on a loomis rod.  The rod will snap long before the gears strip, you can be assured.  :P
