Reel won't Reel

Featured Replies

Hello, I was up fishing at Lake Wallenpaupack this weekend and I was using my first baitcasting reel I got last year which is the Lews Carbon Fire 7:1 spooled up with #30 pound braid. When I would get a fish or even get stuck on something, thinking it was a fish, I would go to reel in and the spool would just stay still. I don't know if it was the drag slipping or not, because I was adjusting it and it seemed to keep happening. I'm wondering if there is two much braid spooled up on th reel? Also, when the drag was decently loose, I pulled some line out and the line isn't coming out smoothly, it's very rough and makes a almost squeaking sound when I pull the line out. If anyone could direct me the right way to fix this problem , I would greatly appreciate it.

Remove the braid, and either use some black electrical tape on the arbor, or several wraps of plain mono.  The braid itself is slipping on the spool.

Rename this thread to "Line slipping on spool and pin it!

I feel like this comes up often
