seat pedestals

Featured Replies

My local boat dealer made a special deal with me and i received 2 springfield pedestals installed .The problem is i cannot for the life of me get them out  i tried screwing them out no go , pulling them no go, i looked for pins,c-locks etc etc none exist   what am i missing here ?

thanks in advance

The springfield peds I got were spring-loks.  There is a small black button down near the botton of the tube.  Press it in and it releases a hook that is holding it in.  Twist and pull up while pushing button in.

nah these are el cheapos i just got them out........ the post has 2 inches or so of thread a plastic bushing screws on it acts sort of like a plastic wall anchor those went bye bye  but i will buy me some that has a push button

You have may the Springfield "King Pin" threaded bases and posts.

They just unscrew but may require wrapping a rag around the post and loosening with a pair of channel-lock pliers. To prevent them from getting that way again coat the threads with vasolene before putting them together.

For the non-threaded type Cabelas does have a tool for them but I have no first hand use of one, you can find it here: http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=90351&hvarDept=200&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=4&hvarSubCode=9&hvarTarget=browse

Good Luck, FL Dave

Those Springfield threaded posts are known to "stick" a little.  ;D  A rag wrapped around the pedestal post and a large plumbers wrench will work.
