Just removed my old casting deck. it was in ok shape, but starting to rot and not enough storage. Looking for simple ways to make my casting deck. All advice wanted. no matter how dumb it may sound, please share. I want something that i can build myself, using wood if possible, and at a limited budget of around 400. thanks it is 14' long. i can give other specs if needed.

Build a drop in frame and make sure you do not use pressure treated wood.  My friend Kris ( a member on here) made his entire floor/ storage frame out of the "plastic wood"  He has a great rig now.  Send him an e mail and he can point you towards a complete review of what he did.  After he built the frame then he covered it in plywood with several coats of paint to seal it.  Cut it out for your storage underneath, make your doors and if you want you could use marine carpet. He did not he added some sand and painted the decks instead.

Look up Jon boats to bass boats on YouTube. You can find ideas, how, and what to use on there. There are some really cool ways to use the deck to put compartments into also.
