Actual terms of boats: NEED help understanding

Featured Replies

I am looking for something under 10K$.

I want to be able to fish bigger bodies of water, as well as smaller.

I actually want a deep v boat for stability reasons (waves/wife/storms/ride itself etc)

I don't know what dead rise means. is 8 degrees bad?

I found this boat 2007 TRACKER Super Guide V-14 SC off tracker boats....would fit my needs.

My neighbor had a center console kingman or triumph (I forget the name) and I thought that boat was awesome. I figured it didn't weigh much either since it was mainly plastic.

Can someone explain dead rise and the other terms I might not get? Beam is that from one side to the other? etc

Also this (or something like it and cheaper) will "fit" my wants right?

Thanks

DEADRISE- Measurement of the angle between the bottom of the vessel and it's widest beam. A vessel with a 0' deadrise has a flat bottom, high numbers indicate deep V shaped hulls.

Depends on where that's measured at.  8 degrees isn't much.  The number doesn't mean alot. Hull design has much more to do with rough water ride.

YES...BEAM IS FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER....THE WIDER THE BEAM...CAN'T SAY THE BETTER, DEPENDING ON THE DEPTH OF THE "V" WOULD HELP MAKE IT BETTER....MORE STABILITY.

The larger the deadrise the better it will work in choppy conditions but the higher deadrise will make it less stable. Flat bottom boats are more stable but they'll beat you up in rough waters.
