Underwater creek channel

Featured Replies

Not sure if it's been posted but here's a great pix of what we are always looking for on sonar.  Looks like the outside bend has the usual worn rocks with inside bend collecting debris.

oh don't be such a killjoy Tom:D

apparently the steam is hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a layer separating the freshwater and saltwater.

it's where the Cenote Angelita river channel enters the Black Sea from the Bosphorus Strait.

"Is it really an underwater river? In short, no. The weight of hydrogen sulfate causes it to sink below the fresh water giving it the appearance of another body of water. Trees, leaves, and other debris cover the “banks” at the bottom of the freshwater layer, which resemble a riverside. The layer of hydrogen sulfate is heavy enough that it is able to move independently of water, thus appearing as a river with its own current."

The leaves faked me out! Very interesting photos and video. The dense layer reminds me of a thermocline. Thank you for sharing.
