Fury 703SF vs Mojo Bass

Featured Replies

I am looking for spinning rod for my President reel. I am between the Dobyns Fury 703SF or the Mojo Bass. From what I read, they seem comparable, maybe the furys action is rated higher then it seems and the mojo's action is rated lower then it seems...that is what i got out of my research. I mainly texas rig senkos. I can get the fury for $105 to my door and the mojo bass for $110 to my door. Any more thoughts?   :confused-8:

thanks

Im leaning dobyns cuz of their lifetime warranty....and i already have a 734c...so matching is nice, but a diversified portfolio is good too...

Flip a coin you can't go wrong with either.  My only other suggestion would be if you join the mailing list at American Legacy Fishing you get a $25 off coupon code.  You'd still have to pay shipping under $200 but I think my Fury was $97 from them.

I have become a huge Dobyns fan. Naturally I would lean you that way for how they fish.  They balance so well and will feel great with that reel.  Between my wife and I we sold off our St Croix's and replaced 3 with Dobyns rods. I also have a friend, and fellow member here Kris, he fishes 4 Dobyns Fury rods, one is a  FR 703 SF and loves it.

Spool it and go catch fish.

I'm surprised this post didn't start a riot,nevermind only 5 replies.

I had the same dilemma not long ago.I went with the Mojo because I love the ones I have.Super strong, super sensitive.Ive set the hook on a clump of weeds more times than I care to admit.

What are you a saying? You don't like your Mojo?

Pretty sure I said I love my Mojos

I guess I didn't understand the part about setting the hook on weeds took it as a negative.  Okay good because I just bought a 7'1" M spinning Mojo SCIII from Field and Stream yesterday because I had a 20% off coupon that was expiring and it was burning to be used :)

Set the hook on weeds because it's sensitive.

I own mojos and furys and Champions.

The most of which I own is the furys for 2 reasons 1. It will be to much to have all champions ? 2. For the money you can't beat them.

I only own 1 spinning rod out of all of my rods and it's a Dobyns Fury 703sf because it just flat out works for all light line/lure applications

Yeah, takes a bit from CA to PA. Even when I ordered them right from Dobyns themselves or Tacklewarehouse. Coast to coast problems....lol. Worth the wait though.

I often have stuff come from California faster than the midwest.  I never opt to pay extra for quicker delivery.

OP, be sure to give us your thoughts on the rod.  I'd like to pick up a Fury and one of the new Mojo rods, but already have more rods than I need (not more than I want :teeth: ).

I own a Mojo Bass rod and if money weren't an object, I'd buy a few more before you finish reading this! :) They're light, strong, and sensitive! Awesome stuff!

Update: I got the Dobyns Fury 703SF and fished with it 4 days, 1 being a tournament. I put a President on it, I can say even as windy as it has been (20-30 mph), and the line fairly slack, I can feel everything. It is very light and feels great. Perfect amount of backbone to set the hook (texas rig) and pull bass out of thick vegetation, but yet light enough for great sensitivity.

Even though I only got 4th in tournament (0.2 lbs from 3rd), a.k.a. biggest loser, I caught 12 bass and felt everything on a very windy day.

Conclusion: :happy-111:
