  1. With the lake around 78 degrees, the air temps dropped to 42 this morning. Will they gravitate (bait finding) toward the feeder streams or away now? I guess when do they stop hanging in the shaded areas cause it's too hot vs looking for warmer water ? Thanks
  2. Well tell that to the bass I spent 2 seasons with a jig fishing a lake with silty bottoms and they only bit it a dozen times.
  3. My experience, theres levels of silty bottom. The more silt, the less attractive/effective a jig is. Throwing a jig on hard bottom and/or targets vs large areas is better. A jig can practically disappear in the silt pending silt thickness.
  4. My partner fishes the NEKO 95% of the time and always does ok to solid, but never puts big fish in boat with neko. I have used shakey a fair amount and do ok and it also seems to never put bigger fish in boat either....but most those times weren't on docks nor extreme heat. Thanks.
  5. I'm able to go out this Friday and it's going to be one of the hottest days of the year so far. I dont really dock fish much but want to keep learning. Thinking about fishing shade and starting on docks. I feel like they won't be very aggressive but will strike if it's close and looks good. Would you fish a jig? And with a heavy action trailer that falls slowly or slower action trailer that sinks faster? What's the deepest dock ends you fish with a jig? What do you recommend to use with deepest docks like 10-20' dock ends? I have more questions than time to fish... Thanks.
  6. When majority of the lake has a silty bottom, how much "disturbing" the silt via heavy weights for C-rig, etc. is ideal? I found I can't effectively fish any weight jig in it, but yet I know certain people use heavy weight C-rig and do ok which would disturb alot, while others including me use NEKO which is a minimal disturbance of the silt....I knownim comparing apples to cabbages, but I would think silt disturbance plays a part...thoughts?
  7. Don't forget studies shown certain bass move alot (chasing bait), while other bass have smaller home range (location has yearly adequate food and shelter). If fish disappeared, they might have left chasing bait, think where did wind/current push them since you last caught them. If you see the fish there and they are not biting, go to another spot and try and then come back. And most importantly as others stated....SLOW DOWN. Good luck.
  8. If you are fishing an area at sunrise, and you decide to throw topwater first, do you think you decrease your chances of catching fish that are not into topwater at the moment? Vs starting with someone stealthy and subtle like a wacky rig before launching a "loud" topwater? Curious on your experiences. I feel like it does "spook" the area a little bit. Thanks
  9. Yellow with 10' fluro leader. I do alot of weightless line watching.
  10. Well gentleman, after some swing oil and the wife encouraging me to start working on a new "list" instead of going out with my buddy in the morning...I bought the 99$ XML combo deal...I will keep you posted. Thanks all.
  11. Nothing to be sorry about. Thanks for your time and info.
  12. I can't find much info on the "xml"...thanks for your input. I know it's not top tier, but I'm very pleased with lots of my mid 100$ equipment.
  13. They on sale for 99...never bought any BP stuff. Only have lews stuff. Any info on these "XML" ?
  14. These are new at our local Walmart. These Yamamoto baits are half the price of Gary Yamamoto baits and say they are made in the US. Anyone know the story?
  15. Curious what everyones opinion is on how much distance do you give another angler at a "spot" during a tournament? Lets just say this is an "example".....guy with fastest boat goes to a single location EVERY SINGLE TOURNAMENT and stays in there the entire time and finishes in top 3 almost every time. This "hypothetical examples" spot is 9 acres of stumps with one boat path through the center of the stumps with only half the perimeter travelable..... "hypothetically" this good fisherman has cut infront of most others at least once in the past 10 years when he super rarely came out of the stumps..... no one else goes back in there out of courtesy...but he has taken thousands of dollars...... thoughts?
  16. So your saying a swimbait with a under spin would be a sound idea....I like it. Would you drag it or anything like a jig and pig even if the fish are suspended? Also, would you assume the fish are suspended or closer to the bottom at this time of year?
  17. How do you fish that....teaxs, weitghless,....?
  18. I rarely fish steep drop offs ( shore to 20' depth is <10' laterally from shore). However, I am going to try because that must be where every single big fish are all at since Im not catching them elsewhere...? I dont have an extensive crank collection, but I do have alot of paddle tails and flukes. Would paddles be good for suspended and/or bottom dwelling bass at these dropoffs? Or would you recommed something else? And is it best to cast parallel to shore line? THanks, Trevor
  19. Paying at least $50 on sharp and heavy metal and pretty shaped plastics is not what i call free.............
  20. Has anything changed as far as processing and shipping time for online tackle stores? My last purchase was 2 months ago from TW and it took 3 weeks to get. Thanks
  21. Just to update you ladies and gentlemen, I purchased an xi5 from West Marine in CA....they only had 2 left. They warn you thats its the processing that takes long, but after chat with a guy who works there, he said if you purchase 2 day shipping, you get bumped to priority, so i picked 1 day shipping which was only $32. I ordered Wed night, amd it got here yesterday, Tuesday to PA. Which is amazing considering circumstances.
  22. Thanks, I just wanna say that Motorguides website is terrible compared to others....its very hard to figure out differences and what features are on what and what they do.
  23. I broke my edge in Tourney Saturday cause i forgot to pull it up out of water before taking off....since the spot where i caught a 5# opened up....got WAY too excited..... Shopping time!! I been looking at the big 4, checking website, Minn and MG website overwhelming... however, im looking for 24v, shaft length for skeeter bass boat?, gps locking, but one that i can set a depth and it runs at that depth....? i have a new garmin Stryker plus 7sv on bow and a older echomap dv on consol. Preferably dont wanna buy electronics too. Whats my best options and how is it work to link my TM to run a certain depth?
  24. I read through alot of archives about this and still have some questions. After they spray and kill weeds, supposably the spray lays on the top of the water and any aquatic vegetation, (unless chemical specific) dies....does this mean most deeper vegetation lives? And then that would mean the fish would flood to those areas im assuming? Would docks that are on steep drop off where there were never weeds be more appealing to fish (in this lake they really werent)? I read to fish moving deep water.... They are spraying my lake today, and im fishing Thursday and Saturday.....but definitely not eating any...haha thoughts?
