  1. I have a 1997 Skeeter zx 185c with a 97 yamaha 150 pro v. The other day at the end of the fishing day, my buddy was waiting for me to get trailer to the launch and he took a 1/8 mile circle and the over heat alarms went off. Last year over heat alarm went off and i replaced thermostats and never had a problem since. I cant find a oil filter to replace (not sure it does), should i just convert to premix? I really dont see it as a burden. i premix for all my small engine 2 strokes. Is it hard to convert? i watched videos and read some comments about hownto do it, but some go crazy and some just block one hose..... My first tourney in 2 weeks, so need to make my mind up. Thoughts?
  2. FIXED IT! Somehow both my reels one way clutch bearing was not snapped it the whole way...I am surprised both came out of position being that it took a firm push to "snap" them back in place...Im not sure they ever were in place....cuz the reels pulled apart smoothly...no idea how they became unseated....and it happen on both reels...hmmmm.... THANKS EVERYONE!!
  3. So I took a drag washer out just to see if that is what is being the problem and it runs perfectly.....I am looking at the schematic on order and how they are assmebled and still dumbfounded.... who on here repairs/ puts reels back together that I can send to?
  4. So I took my other one apart very slowly and to see if I can see any difference from what i did....nothing....so i put that one back together.....AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED!!! I SCREWED UP BOTH!!! ? I slowly seated everything, I have everything in correct order as per schmatic, i believe its me putting outer cover on ... it spins like its suppose to when screws are 95% in...its the last 5 it slows it up.....Im an idiot.....but maybe 38th time is a charm! The one thing that intrigues me is the drag spacers....I have them in correct order but is the last one suppose to not be flush with gear? it is completely its thickness out of the seat in gear.
  5. to add to the problem now....my drag will now loosen up.....is that bearing that the collar slides into going bad? And should i put grease or oil between the sleeve and bearing?
  6. It feels like the tension knob is turn on some....when I loosen the screws, it feels like its suppose to... IM GOING NUTZ!!
  7. So tore it apart about 12 times now...I will work perfectly with the side plate screw loose....??? Any ideas ?
  8. I have a Lews Tournament MB baitcaster and after sitting through the winter, I noticed that it isnt reeling as smoothly. So I tore it apart and cleaned it thoroughly and when I was putting it back together before I tightened the 4 screws it was reeling perfectly, but when I tightened them, practically just a little more then finger tight, and went back to not as smooth. I then loosened all the screws back up to see if that was the problem, it did not help. Its not grinding or anything like that, its like i have the spool tensioner on too much...When i flick the handle to spin it it only freely rotates a few times. Its not like my others. You think bearing went bad? Should I try and place oil in the bearnig to break it loose before placing grease back in and around the bearing? Thanks
  9. Im having a difficult time really distinguishing the advantages and true differences between the 2. My brother-in-law and me were having a this discussion... My thought: You can adjust the length of the "free wingling" part of the worm with the o-ring The shakyhead hook shank supports the lower part of worm more than NEKO The NEKO would have a higher percentage of chance to fall over since hook weight is hanging from half way up worm. When you pull your line the head of shaky head goes first vs shaky head kinda has a wacky worm effect. I came into the fishing world starting with NEKO and I have less experience with shaky head....is there any BIG advantages to have both setups ? Would you have one rod designated to NEKO and another rod designated to shaky head or would you only have one of these setup? thanks
  10. I find more success where the bends transitions to a 2 to 1 slope. (maybe thats just in my head) but I feel like at a 1:1, they tend to be suspended and not as excited and ready to bite, but when they are at the 2:1 slopes they are there for ambush reasons. And 3:1 or more is ok, but I feel the bass don't stay compared to the 2:1 area there cuz the depth isnt helping them as much to ambush.....no science with that answer, just how I feel. good luck.
  11. I would make sure you are using O-rings (I like 2 crossed) and slide your hook just under the rings and not in your worm at all. This allows most of your hook exposed. Also, I always reel down hard on them until my rod is bent enough I have some of the fish, then i finish with a firm set.
  12. For fun, If you would go to a lake you never fished, have no time to scout it, and are competing against your friend /or guy you can't stand who thinks he is better then you (for bragging rights, ha) how would you rig 5 rods? Its this time of year, in the north east part of country, partly cloudy, low 50's in morning to low 70's by end of day, slight stain (2-4' visibility), from 6am to 6pm, and only 12 beers, pack of pop-tarts, and a water with you.
  13. thanks I will try to look at carb flaps
  14. How do you know if a RPM guage is correct.....cuz my boat, 1997 yamaha 150 hp pro V really only says it is running like 4900 with the hot foot pressed to the stop. I recently bought the boat, I would guess I can adjust the hot foot so the pedal pushes further....you think thats the problem?
  15. My 1997 yamaha pro V 150 psi hose that runs to dash guage has broke. I need to replace it. I believe the size is 1/8" ID and its like a ployethylene tubing. I cant find that anywhere online, and there isnt any boat dealers close. Is that the correct size?
  16. Ha, sometimes all my tourny fishing establishes where they are not.
  17. Just curious, whats everyones game plan (besides go where the fish are biting) when the tournys starts at 6:00 am? I see lots go straight for shallow water docks or shallow water stumps, and then I see others posting up at points. I used to go into transition flats then work deeper as day goes on, but then I again I never was a season champion. ha
  18. I never installed a FF, however, I am very good with wiring/soldering and electrical systems concepts. Just a few simple basic questions. 1. Do you normally get power from cranking battery or the trolling motor battery's (2 in my case, obviosuly only hook to on for 12V since I am assuming connected in series to get 24V for my 24V TM)? 2. Can you "tap in" to an existing FF wires to get the 12V or is that too much interference? 3. What is the trim power usually connected to, cranking batt? 4. Mounting at bow, drill mount into carpetted wood floor or the top of the fiberglass boat (I hope wood is correct)? Thanks in advance!!
  19. Thanks, I went with the stiker plus 7sv.
  20. Thanks, I want side imaging. But I feel like it should be as common to buy FF w/ TM mount as transom mounts. Just like bait caster and spinning reel options...or maybe im just crazy. Also, for HB, why dont they just sell those combos? Thanks again.
  21. Am I the only person to want a Fish finder with a trolling motor transducer together? Why can't i find a combo OR find a finder with no tranducer and I buy a trolling motor mountable transducer desperately? What am i doing wrong in my shopping? I have been looking at Helix 7 si or Elite 7ti but the elite total scan transducer is too big for trolling motor mount (thats a dumb design). So where can i by a Helix 7 si w/ troling motor transducer??
  22. OUt pro had more colors in my jigs then TW. And they have same free ship over $50. Even though they sent me 2 wrong things out of 20 items.... I will let you know how they resolve it...
  23. Way2slow, I am looking at a 96 Stratos 278 that he just put 140 evinrude looper with "all new internals". Is that motor worth in vesting in? Thanks
  24. tin boat with 10hp and trolling motor is all you should invest in for now. It will accomplish everything you want except Tuna fishing. Then when you graduate and get a job and not get a wife or girlfriend you will be able to afford your dream boat. I have been looking on craigslist for 3 years for a glass boat steal within 800 miles diameter...I found a few but they are taken within a 12 hours....but good luck.
