i sure am glad i found this sight. looks like a great sight so here goes. i was given an aluminum livewell from another boat and want to install in my alum jon boat. my question is how to plumb it. it has two tubes coming out of bottom. one of these is my fill tube and the other is a drain and overflow in one. how do i hook up the drain / overflow tube so it operates correctly? the drain obviously needs to be at the bottom of the boat on my transom but if i put it there the overflow portion will be trying to drain below water line. how can that work. a diagram would help a bunch but any help to a new guy with minimal knowledge on livewells would be great. sry for so long winded.

As long as the live-well is above the water line. The water will drain out. If the live well is below the water line, build a platform for it to sit on that raises it up above the water line. The pressure of the  live-well water being above the water line will make it drain out below the water line

Most of the time it's best to install a oneway valve in the overflow line that doesn't allow lake water to re-enter into the system.
