Motorguide wireless trolling motor

Featured Replies

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with MG new wireless trolling motor?  Would love to hear pros/cons.  thanks

Larry

I am also a member of a forum geared more toward boat restoration and boating. I only hear good things about it. Were I able to afford it, I would have one, but unfortunately, no one is selling a used one, and new is far out of my budget.

I got the chance to play with one a few days back as its what Im going to use to replace my current TM. They are nice. The best part is the low profile foot pad . After a long day on the water and feeling like Im in a Captain Morgan commercial all day, my back starts killing me.

Pros:

The remote range was very good. I could even control it by foot pad at the drivers helm.

The prce is excellent: 620.00 retail for the 55 x 48" (12v)

it opens up a lot 'real estate' on the front deck.

Ergonomical Foot control

Added features are nice (battery meter, newly designed lockdown, digital, etc)

Cons:

Its new technology that will change in 18 months

Remotes are extra

I would strongly recommend getting the newest model that has the Lowrance ducer built into it. Even if you dont use it now, there is a good chance you will later.

Ill have mine on in the next couple of weeks and Ill post pics.

Another option if you want to not be 'Captain Morgan' is to install a ProTray which will recess your current foot control.  This, of course, if you want to keep your present TM.  Or it could be another option if you are needing to upgrade but find the wireless to be cost prohibitive.  Not sure which way I would go: wireless, ProTray or handcontrol.  I am starting to have back troubles again and may be looking at a change of some kind.
