First time for everything

Recommended Posts

So today I hit the water for a little while.  And I can say for the first time on the lake I caught the strangest fish.  Apparently I hooked a Golden Shiner about 12" long a little under a pound.  And I caught it on a Manns Baby minus 1 Crankbait.  I just thought bait fish dont get that big.  Well apparently they do.  I couldnt get a picture of it.  I tried my hardest.

LOL,  Golden Shiners get big.  I would have been tempted run a hook through his nose, hang a bobber over his head, and let him swim around for awhile.  That's probably the #1 bait for large Florida bass.

This is PA.  The bass are smaller than the bait fish.  LOL

I've never caught one but up here some guys in the winter will put 10" or 12" golden shiners under tip-ups on the ice to target trophy pike or bass.

There is a stretch of the Hudson river where I occasionally catch really big creek chub. I'm pretty sure I have unhooked a state record and tossed it back. I just don't care enough about those dang minnows.
