Fishing in Cindy's wake

Featured Replies

  • Super User

Cindy is upon my area now and I want to fish early tomorrow morning.  We expect 2-4 inches of rain today and tonight and winds of up to 10-15 mph tomorrow.

I'll be in my kayak and have a couple large ponds to choose from.  Assuming they muddy up should I fish the shallow vegetated (pads) pond or the deep pond with lots of standing timber.  I can hold kayak in pad fields in strong wind but the other pond I cannot stake out and usually get blown around a lot.

Any thoughts on which pond and techniques?

I'm in Virginia and we are supposed to get the same storm, but a day later.  I'll be fishing Sunday, and I expect to water to be high and muddy, so I plan on fish up shallow in newly flooded areas.  I'm planning on pitching a lot and having a squarebill crankbait getting some work.
