Thanks guys for all the info! I'm off to buy the wood. I've found several  good prices for the carpet on line, but I'm wondering would the black "grass" style carpet you can get at the HD also work? say double  layerd on top. It's a little cheaper in price and I hate waiting for the UPS guy. I've heard somewhere that burning(?) could happen with this style of carpet when driving on the trailer.

Unless I could find someone at a carpet place that was very knowledgeable I would order bunk carpet from BPS.
