Hey Guys, I have a 91 champion and the back seat will not come out.

Any tricks of the trade would be helpful.

My buddy and i both tried to pull the darn thing out.

Have you tried putting some liquid soap on it?

Which type of pedestal base do you have?

Pardon the stupidity i dont know the name.

It is the round one with a tab to push in.

I have that on my boat, and it got stuck so I took a big flat tip screwdriver and pried the tab in and pull like mad to get it out

I've got the tab type myself.  My best suggestion is to saturate the base with either wd-40 or penetrating oil and let it sit. Maybe a day or two.  Then take a heavy flat screwdriver and bend in on the plastic tab with extreme force while you wiggle the base.  You might want to have a partner help with this.  If the plastic tab breaks it's no biggie, you can get the new bases at www.Iboats.com.  In fact, you're probably better off to replace the bases after getting them out.  Since I changed mine they come out much easier.

However soaking it in oil will be a trick as my pedestal  is above my livewell.

We all know are babys cant breath that stuff.

Try spraying with some Pam cooking spray.. it is actually a good lubricant...

Heres an answer that will probably sound crazy but works, get yourself a couple of bags of ice and place them all around the stuck base. Make sure they are against the post as much as possible. Leave them there for about an hour or so, them try to pry the post out. Metal will contract or shrink when it gets cold, thus making the post smaller. Thats how I got my 3/4" swivel eze post out. Give it a try, It's only a few bags of ice.

I would say, before you bend down to hold that tab in.  Stand above the pedestal and try to wiggle the base with a lot of force until you break it loose.  It's much easier doing that first, then precede to bend down and hold in the tab to get it out.  I have a lund with those circle pedestals, they have a metal base in the boat and the round pole has a plastic bottom.

I had the same issue last summer.  I tried the "HE-MAN" approach cussed, ranted & raved then ended up throwing out my back, figures.  I could rotate the seat but not remove it.  Penetrating oils didn't work.  How the posts get bound in the first place is beyond me.  It seats in a graphite insert.  I ended up doing as mentioned in a reply above.  I waited for a hot summer day, took the cover off my boat and packed the shaft with ice, not the floor insert.  I did use some WD-40 to clean out any lube, from my previous attempts.  I don't know if this was coincidence or not but I was able to remove it.
