What do you use spinning gear for?
I use spinning gear for almost everything. I'm not real good with a bait caster and don't pull it out often enough. I've used a spinning set up since I was a kid so that's where I'm most confortable.

Braid ?
I do like the Palomar knot myself.

Braid ?
I've never used braid before but the bait monkey made me pick some up today, along with some hooks and some frogs. Silly monkey! I'm going to be putting SpiderWire Stealth Braid 20lb (6lb dia) on a spinning reel. What backer do you suggest? What knot to connect the two? And finally what knot do you suggest to tie to the hook? Thanks in advance, Jon

Your accomplishments from this year/decade

Sedalia Mo. Bass

Sedalia Mo. Bass
That was out at Clover Dell, it's MAYBE a 5 min drive from my house. I don't know if Blind Pony is open to fish yet, last I heard it wasn't but I'm gonna have to check into that. It's been closed for several years, it'll be good fishing due to lack of pressure on the fish! Any time you are down this way let me know, maybe we can get a line wet together. Rott

1st bass of 09
Funny thing was I didn't expect to catch anything! AND it was on my 5th cast I think, just tossin a plastic worm in and around the pile of brush! I have to admit tho, I got broke off about 3 times in there, the water was up alot higher than normal and I couldn't remember exactly how that pile of wood was laying in the water. Oh well!

Sedalia Mo. Bass
Check out the pic I posted in My Tourney or Outing. I took that bass in a PUBLIC 12 acher pond. Don't know what the water temp was but the air temp was about 45 with a wind steady at about 15mph. I took that bass off the point of the brush pile. Unfortunately I didn't weigh it in my excitement and trying to get one of my son's over to take the pic! But OH WELL! The first one of 09! Hope it continues!!! LOL!

1st bass of 09
I know I haven't been around for a while but I'm back! The kids had the day off today so I took them fishing. Here's a pic from my camera phone of the first one in 09, looks like it'll be a GREAT year if this keeps up!

Berkley Digital Scale
I picked up a Berkley Digital 15 lb scale last year. Ummm lost the instructions :-[ Anyone tell me how to change it from Kg to Lbs? I'm tired of getting on the internet and converting the weights that way! Thanks in advance. Jon

St. School lake Marshall, MO
It was great meeting Quinn today and fishing with him. I had a good time talking to him about fishing, of course, and everything else. He's got himself a neet little lake there, I'll be taking the boat next time for sure. If you haven't done it yet, look somone up that's "local" to you and get out there with them. New fishing buddies are only a PM away! Jon

My Boat Redo
I have a 14 ft v bottom Richline I need to do some work on. What did you use to strip it? I have some sort of Rino Lining on mine and it either needs to be re done or removed and re done because it leaked this week when I took it out. I was going to put platforms in but now I'm leaning towards floors. Jon

Edwin A. Pape Lake Concordia MO
I have only fished there once, about a year ago, maybe more. I know there is a daily fee to fish there as this is the city water supply. With that said the lake is idle speed only for the same reason. The day I fished there we concetrated on the structure surrounding the lake, just basically fished the outer edges, didn't have a fish finder so looking for underwater structure was out of the question. I think it was early summer and there were a lot of snakes on the water. We brought in for weight at the end of the day, best 5 in the boat, between 12 and 15 lbs. I'll admit it I didn't throw alot of stuff I should have and regret it. I don't remember throwing any soft plastic's at all. Oops! LOL Good luck. When you headed there? Jon

1st time out in 08
Thanks all. The water was pretty muddy as you can see in the pic's. I usually throw a dark purple worm in there no matter what time of year. Dark wasn't working so I decided to throw something I never throw here, Chartreuse, and at least one of them liked it! LOL

1st time out in 08
Yeah, that wind was cold, when it would stop blowing it wasn't bad at all.

1st time out in 08
NinerMan and I went out today for the first time here in Mo. It was supposed to warm up to 55 but i don't think it got above 45, and there was a wind blowing pretty good as well. I hooked into one, my scale says it's 2.2kg and if I did my math right thats 4.8 lbs. He didn't seem to me to be that big but maybe he hid it in his tail!?!?!? LOL NinerMan got the big goose egg. Sorry Bro! All in all it was a fun day.
