Looking for Megabass help

Looking for help selecting a rod not over 7' for bottom fishing.

Price range..lure weight?

I don't know what happened I had a bunch of info in the post. Lure Wt 1/4 to 3/4, line wt 10 to 20, rod length not longer than 7' but looking for a little shorter. Been thinking of the Orochi XX MH jerkbait special but I doubt if it is much good on bottom fishing. I can't find Much in stock on the Orochi xxx but not sure about the handle. I don't want a rod with a split grip handle or micro guides. Price I don't think I would go over $400 but who knows. The Spec's above are not set in stone  except for the rod length & handle.

Seems like you listed the ratings you want a rod to have, but not examples of types of lures and total weights of the lures you want to toss. Some more info like that would help. Also what kind of cover and depth are you fishing?

The XX Jerkbait Special is a versatile stick and can handle some lighter weight finesse jigs and light trigs. But it's not ideal for a dedicated bottom contact bait rod. Spinnerbait Special is also versatile, but I wouldn't consider it as a dedicated jig n worm rod.

Most Megabass rods I'm familiar with for throwing jigs and trigs exceed your 7' max criteria as well. All the Orochi XX are full handle and there's a few sticks there for bottom contact depending on weight and cover, but they'll all exceed 7'.

Let us know a bit more detail to help. Also contact The Tackle Trap for great input on Megabass rods.

I hate say it but I think u are sol on getting exactly what u are looking for in the orochixx line...if u are dropping some serious coin like it sounds u are willing to do ild lean more towards Loomis they kinda specialize in bottom contact rods and I feel I would find something that suits your needs alot better then with megabass.

Mostly has to do with the length issue any more 7'+ rods are the norm and anything shorter seems to be more of a specialty rod and less manufacturers are making them

The xxx chimaera looks like the ticket.

I'm a fan of the XX Tour Versatile for things like jigs, texas-rigs, etc...It doesn't get as much love as the Perfect Pitch, EMTF, or DSR - But it's a great rod and if 7' is a hard length limit for you it might be your best bet.  It's a heavy-powered stick, but it does really well on the lighter end of its range.

The XX Spinnerbait Special is also a great rod and not just for moving baits - But between the 2 I'd pick the Tour Versatile.
