Approaching Structure

Featured Replies

For you canoe and kayak fisherman:

What technique do you use to pull up to a piece of structure/cover on the bank?  If you're in a canoe, kayak, small jon boat, etc.?

For example, I was fishing a large laydown that extends about 15' into the water.  It's about 3' - 4' deep at the outer edges.  There was a  light but steady breeze is blowing perpendicular to it (wind is blowing towards the south, tree is roughly west-facing).  I had a T-rig and I wanted to fish this tree slow, but kept being blown out of place.

How would you stay in place in this type of situation?

I use a 10 lb mushroom anchor.

Sometimes I use Two (Bow & Stern).

Really no other way to do it.

Another option is the shallow water anchor deals (basically a stick in the mud).
