Revo SX vs. Lews Super Duty for punching?

Featured Replies

Just picked up a new punching rod and will need a feel for it.  I currently have an extra Revo SX. I would need to purchase the Lews reel if I end up going that route.  Any advice/suggestions between the two reels for this application?

I use an SX for pitching/punching works great. Even handled a decent sized pike no problem.

use the sx til it wears out

Thanks guys.. I'll probably stick with the Revo then. Heading to the lake in the morning, I'll probably use my frog set up for punching tomorrow since my rod won't be here till sometime next week

I'd say the super duty is the better choice, but you should have no problem with the Revo.

Nothing wrong with the Revo, nice and light and easy to cast.....Revo will work great, Lew's is a great next choice for when you want to buy a new reel. Hard to say one is better than the other, I think the Lew's is larger but I can't keep up with all the models Lew's has and had last few years. Abu keeps it simple. Revo's and Max.
