I'm heading up to newfound lake for vacation Saturday.  Has anyone been out on newfound recently?   Any info on baits and depth you are catching them at would be great!!

thanks in advance!!!

great smallie spot! i havent fished there in a few years but ive caught some nice smallies up shallow this time of year! shocking and probably mostly luck.  id target steep bluff walls, humps, holes. fish tubes jigs, crankbaits, dropshots. topwaters early. you can find fish up shallow. mostly small few decent ones. night crawlers ALWAYS WORK!

Ive had some night tournaments there for smallmouth. The lake is good sized and the water is incredibly clear, so they can be tough to find and even tougher to get to bite during the day. At night time, big topwaters in 5-20 feet of water worked very well for everyone ive fished with. Good luck.

The thermocline is around 15 feet so try to match the flats around that depth with CB.

There are a lot of droppoffs where soft baits will work, and top waters at dusk
