I like to use Yamamoto Creatures and Fat Ikas, zoom flukes, curly tail worms, lizards/brush hogs. What I'm wondering is, should I be using jig heads or weighted hooks when rigging these up? Of course depends on hooking style. but I mean when I want to use weight...

 

Typically I'll use a bullet weight and rig Texas or unweighted Texas. Of course whacky on senko baits...

 

What about flukes/swimbaits? Should they get a jig headed hook? How do you rig up your plastics?

 

 

As far as i know flukes should be rigged weightless. For swimbaits i like weighted swimbait hooks with twist lock screws. The size of the hook depends on the size of the swimbait. For me i use the biggest hook i can without hindering the action of the bait. As far as weight just depends on how deep you want to fish. I use the weighted swimbait hooks when fishing grass or docks. Ill use jig heads when i want a faster more vertical fall and im fishing hard bottom and i want the bait to sit jig head on the bottom and the bait up. When fishing plastics like worms,bugs,craws,hogs ect, i generally t rig them with tungsten bullet weights. I use jig heads when fishing hard bottom,  rocks, when i want to drag a bait and i need the plastic to stay vertical and not lay flat on the bottom. I only use weighted hooks for swimbaits never for worms,creatures or craws i just dont like how they fall on weighted hooks. Where did hooks tend to have a gliding action that I don't like for worms creatures and craws but that same gliding fall is great for swimbaits. Hope this helps
