Lews Reel for Crankbaits?

Featured Replies

So.. I'm in the process of switching of switching all my reels from Revos to Lews. I got one Lews reel and fell in love with it. So I am in the process of upgrading all my reels. With that being said, what Lews reel is recommended for crankbaits. I currently use a Revo Winch in a 5:4:1 ratio. It makes retrieving those deep running cranks a breeze. So I'm looking for a Lews comparable, but there's so many of them, I don't know what my best option would be. So I was hoping someone here could chime in on what they use and how you like it

The tournament MB would be okay if you want to stay cheaper, however I like the BB1 or BB1 pro for cranks. They are on sale at tackle warehouse right now...

Have you used the 5:1:1 gear ratio? I like that they have a bigger handle on the BB1 Pro's as well.. Not sure if they do on the BB1

The BB1 also has the bigger handle which is why I went with it for my cranks, however I got the 6:4:1 so I cannot comment on the 5:1:1.

I like the BB1 cranking reel, just be aware they've got 2 versions though. The TMB ans LFS have 5:1s with larger handles and deeper spools. So its up to you: Centrifugal for $160, Dual for $140 or Magnetic for $100.

I use a 5.6:1 Tournament MB for crankbaits and really like it.  The 5.1:1 BB1 is currently on sale at Tackle Warehouse for the same price as a Tournament MB though.

I crank with an older tournament mg which I love but if I was to pick another it would be a bb1 pro
