Line Choices

Featured Replies

Basic situation is, currently have one rod with two reels b/c of a snapped rod.

My thought process is that I can just have the reels spooled with technique appropriate line and swap them out rather than buy a new rod.

One reel is 6.3:1, other is 7.1:1. The rod is 7'1" MH Fast. I primarily fish plastics and light moving baits, but I occasionally punch and frog in heavier cover. I was thinking that I want one reel with 15-20lb Fluoro for everyday use and the other with 50lb braid for heavy cover. Obviously, I should put the braid on the 7.1:1 because cover needs the faster reel, but I like that reel so much more and I want to use it more often than the other one. Can I frog/punch with the 6.3 or do I have to suck it up and use that reel?
