Use cheap reel or buy a new one for ML rod

Featured Replies

I have a Plusinno Hongying HA3000 spinning reel that I got a while ago on Amazon.  I am new to bass fishing and my current setup is a Daiwa Tatula SV TW baitcaster on a MHF GLoomis E6X and I have a Pflueger President spinning reel on a MF Shimano Compre.  Since I have the Hongying reel sitting around, I was thinking about putting on 10# braid and pairing it with a ML Cabelas Tourney Trail rod that came with the Pflueger Pres and using it primarily for the ned rig.  Do you think this reel is good enough or is it worth it to buy another president which is currently on sale at Cabelas?

Here is the reel for reference.. https://www.amazon.com/PLUSINNO-HongYing-Spinning-Freshwater-Saltwater/dp/B018QSGK1K

The only thing that matters is does the reel work? If it's working fine, there is no reason not to use it on any rod. Retire it when it stops functioning the way it is supposed to.

Yes it works just fine.  I only used it once prior to getting into bass fishing.  Thanks!
