Topwater poppers
I have 3 PopMax’s (Black Orochi, White Python, and Matte Frog). They are my favorite poppers and pretty much the only ones I throw now. I like to either do a pop-pop-sit retrieve or walk it. Both retrieve types have worked for me.

BPS - Cabela's Merge
The shelves at my Cabelas, which is about 20mins from me, is always bare... and it gets worse after a decent sale. I normally only get line from there and get everything else online, DSG, or at two local tackle shops in my area. I do have Bass Pro shops within an hour from me in opposite directions but I only visit them when I’m in the area.

Daiwa Tatula SV or Curado 70
Ah yes. I saw that post. That is definitely a good deal and would put it right at the same price as the SV (from the auction website)... I personally like the SV due to the "set it and forget it" braking system since I fish from the bank and only bring 3 rods with me (2 casting 1 spin) so I'm changing baits often.

What Scales do You Use?
I second the reelsonar and I use the rapala fish gripper instead of the one it came with.

Daiwa Tatula SV or Curado 70
I was in your shoes 2 weeks ago and decided to go with the Tatula SV.. mainly because it was cheaper.

Whopper Plopper 110
I own the 90 and 110 and I throw the 110 about 90% of the time. The only time I will use the 90 is if I am catch weeds when the 110 drops. Monkey butt has also been the most productive color for me.. followed by Loon.

Anyone else experience this with the Whopper Plopper?
When I catch fish on the WP110, usually the front hook is in their mouth and the back hook is hooked on the body somewhere from it trying to shake loose, then hooking itself... Also, I ALWAYS use a fish grip to grab the fish and use pliers to remove the hooks so I don't hook myself if the fish shakes.

Whopper Plopper what line and rods are you using for the different sizes?
I throw the 110 on a GLoomis E6X MHF with 40# Power Pro and the 90 on a Fenwick Silverhawk II MF with 12# Pline CXX.

First outing with baitcaster
Nice job! Accuracy will come in time once you get more confident in casting. Check out Glenn's video on how to cast a baitcaster for some tips that helped me learn. Biggest thing for me was learning to cast in a fluid motion compared to a fast whipping motion when using a spinning reel.

Best bass rod under 100$
Cabelas has the Fenwick Silverhawk II on sale for $59.99. I just picked up a MF casting rod and it is a great rod for $60.

Grand Rapids, MI area
My in-laws live in Byron Center but plan to spend the entire day Fri 8/11 fishing and my bro-in-law and I don't mind driving. He has only been fishing for catfish but I am getting him into bass fishing

Grand Rapids, MI area
I am going to visit family on Aug 11-13 in the Grand Rapids Area and would like to get out one of those days for some fishing from the shore. What common known places should I look into? I did some research and I am thinking the Grand River or the Flat River. Any suggestions will be appreciated, thank you!

Broke Guy Needs the Perfect 2 Combos
If you can get the Type R and the SV's for the same price, I would go with the SV. I have one and it is awesome!

What's your preferred method of fishing?
Top water by far is my favorite style... especially with the Popmax!

Use cheap reel or buy a new one for ML rod
Yes it works just fine. I only used it once prior to getting into bass fishing. Thanks!

Use cheap reel or buy a new one for ML rod
I have a Plusinno Hongying HA3000 spinning reel that I got a while ago on Amazon. I am new to bass fishing and my current setup is a Daiwa Tatula SV TW baitcaster on a MHF GLoomis E6X and I have a Pflueger President spinning reel on a MF Shimano Compre. Since I have the Hongying reel sitting around, I was thinking about putting on 10# braid and pairing it with a ML Cabelas Tourney Trail rod that came with the Pflueger Pres and using it primarily for the ned rig. Do you think this reel is good enough or is it worth it to buy another president which is currently on sale at Cabelas? Here is the reel for reference.. https://www.amazon.com/PLUSINNO-HongYing-Spinning-Freshwater-Saltwater/dp/B018QSGK1K
