Hey guys! This is my first post so bear with me lol. So I'm 14 and on a budget with a 150$ being the maximum amount I can spend on 2 new rods. That being said, I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations for cheaper but good quality rods...To give you a little idea of what I'm pairing it with and what baits I like to use; I have a bass pro shops tourney special baitcaster 6:3:1 and a shimano 5:1:1 as well. I fish a lot of t rigged soft plastics along with top water, cranks, jigs, swimbaits, and spinnerbaits. Whit that being said I'm hoping you guys have some recommendations on what rod would pair better with the reels i have and the baits i use. Thanks in advance!

I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice, but I really like cabela's fenwick silver hawk rods on sale right now for $59 and they retail for $99.  I own a spinning model and I think it's a really good value for a quality rod. The blank is pretty sensitive and the fuji alconite guides are quality vs some aluminum oxide inserts you'll get with other budget rods.

@Yudo1 Thanks for the response, I'll definitely look into it! I'm looking at a lighter rod for soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and top water, then a heavier rod for jigs, cranks and swimbaits!

I loved my first generation Silverhawk! A 6'6" M/F that I used for everything from top water to jerkbaits to soft plastics. Good components, durable and a great value. I still have it and usually let other friends accompanying me use it. 

 

I got mine on sale, and if Cabelas is running the same sale right now I'd definitely recommend jumping on it!

I think you can get the Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 for around $65/ea

Veritas 2.0 for $65, Fenwick Silver Hawk for $59, Dobyns Colt $79, or my personal choice would be the Lews Mach Speed Stick. All will be great choices but I absolutely love my Mach Speed Stick from Lews.

I agree that the Silverhawk II at Cabela's is an awesome value right now at $59.99

I would also recommend a Fenwick HMG.  I bought mine for $70 new from an eBay store.

definitely a rod from cabbalas on sale. you won't be dissapointed. get a 6'6" M and a 7' Mh

I'd like to recommend you go back to Bass Pro 

and put your reel(s) on several different rods

that fall within your 2-for $150 budget. You don't

have to bring your reels unless you want to, BPS

will have your Tourney Special and maybe the

Shimano (but both without line spooled on).

 

This way you'll get a nice feel for how each rod

with reel feels in your hands. 

 

Bass Pro has some excellent house brand rods

that'll pair nicely with your reels, as well as a 

number of other great brands. 

 

I have done exactly what I suggest to you and

doing so helped me pick a rod for my reel that

I thought felt the best in my hands.

Supplies are limited right now, but I bought two 7' MM Aetos casting rods for less than $135 a few months ago, and that included shipping.  These were $180 rods.  

 

EDIT:  I have several HMG rods and feel they offer a lot for your money.  Actually I've felt that way about all my Fenwick rods...Elite Tech,  Smallmouth, River Runner and Aetos models.
