Boat control effect on fishing

Featured Replies

I love having and fishing from a boat for the first time in my life. You can get into better spots but if any wind at all then it is a constant battle with the boat.

Sometimes I like it better when in my buddies boat so I can concentrate on fishing.

Does anyone think that sometimes having to deal with the boat though takes away from your fishing?

You mean running the trolling motor?

If you're new to controlling a boat with a TM it can be a little overwhelming.  Especially if there's a partner in the back and you're trying to keep both of you in position to fish properly.  Once you've done it awhile it becomes second nature unless you're dealing with extreme conditions like heavy wave action, heavy wind or both.

Eventually, the boat will become like another part of your body.  Boat position and handling, when done right, can be very satisfying,...all part of the magic equation that made it all click.

Yes running  the TM and having to constantly concentrate on dealing with it instead of only concentrate on fishing. Slightest breeze and its on/off, on-off

Sometimes I think it takes away from the fishing but then again you are in a spot that you couldn't get to from the bank!
