The cost of lures?..

My hottest lure is the Rebel BIG CLAW CRAWFISH crankbait "D74" in chartreuse and dives to 10'.

i always pick up a few extra when I'm shopping in the past. I was browsing sleezebay and seen the d74 prices at $10 to $20? There only $5.59 at most online places.  My point is shop around don't jump on the first offer we see shop smart buy more for less. Shopping smart keeps me above the dollar menu and happy meal at the local fast food places. I don't get a toy but that's ok.

food for thought.  Bill

I have seen some lures sold online for far more than what any retail store would sell them for, both on ebay and on Amazon. Then I have found some online stores and vendors that are really reasonable.

If I'm buying something online, I will often shop around for the best price available but I also have to ask if they will mail it in the next month, because I've had a lot of problems with a lot of vendors, mostly on Amazon lately where they don't put my order in the mail for a few weeks. I've had great luck with tacklesupplydepot.com and their ebay store however, among the best prices and they ship real fast.

However, if I am in a store say Bass Pro Shops or Cabelas and I know I can find it cheaper online, I'll buy it in the store anyway, it helps keep the store there. The only exceptions really are for example is if the store doesn't carry the specific brand I may order it online (for example, I'm partial to Daiwa J-Braid, it's a nice 8 strand braid and freys a lot less than other brands I've used)

Ever seen the price of soft plastics on Amazon? It can be insane, like over $100 for a single pack. I have no idea why Amazon has almost every thing under the sun for the best price, except for soft plastics.

It's not really anything unique to fishing gear.  It's like that over just about every product category.  Always someone looking for naive buyers to overpay.

I once saw a Flambeau single tray tackle box that you can pick up anywhere for 10 bucks on Ebay for $128.  It did NOT have a bunch of lures in it.  It boasted that it was brand new and "Virgin Plastic".

LOL!

The only thing I ever buy on Amazon is line (specifically the 330 yards of JBraid I can't find in stores and very occasionally some rare lures or rare colors I can't find anywhere else that I want to try. I try to use them minimally, and often orders never ship out and they just cancel them due to lack of availability anyway, although they've been good for line. As for soft plastics, the only thing I recall seeing on Amazon that was roughly competitively priced after shipping with stores is the NetBait Paca Chunks, and it's still cheaper in stores, so I don't even shop soft plastics on Amazon.

When I see something like a pack of soft plastics selling for something as ridiculous as $100, so overpriced they can't realistically expect anyone to be dumb enough to buy it, it makes me think that someone is using the overpriced soft plastics as a way to launder drug money. I can't think of any other reason.
